The Building of Gosport

The Directors of Historical Management Associates Ltd, Dr Malcolm Stratford and Stuart Peachey, designed and organised the building of the replica hamlet of “Little Woodham” for Gosport Leisure Services in 1984.

The village was constructed in 15 days by a 35 man strong team and had been designed to last 5 days for a Living History Display.

The council were so impressed they purchased the buildings. As part of the sale the team trained local volunteers over the subsequent two years to take over the living history displays. The original buildings survived a number of years before being burnt down over a period by vandals but the site still continues to provide historical displays to this day.
